When the people you love feel far away

Relationship strain shows up everywhere: the argument you keep having on repeat, the silence at the dinner table, the resentment that builds when you don’t feel heard, the trust that hasn’t recovered. It affects sleep, work, parenting, and health — because our closest relationships are the foundation everything else rests on.

Mana Life Counseling has worked with couples and families for more than a decade, helping them glean insight into their conflicts and make plans for positive goals. Whether you’re searching for couples counseling, a family mediator, or one-on-one support for relationship patterns, we tailor sessions to your situation — with compassion for everyone in the room.

What we help with

  • Communication breakdowns and recurring conflict
  • Rebuilding trust after betrayal or broken commitments
  • Parenting differences and blended family dynamics
  • Family conflict between adult family members
  • Disconnection, resentment, and intimacy concerns
  • Major decisions: moves, career changes, separation questions
  • Individual work on attachment and relationship patterns

How relationship counseling works

Your counselor’s job isn’t to referee or take sides — it’s to help each person feel genuinely heard, slow down the patterns that keep hijacking your conversations, and teach concrete communication and conflict skills you’ll practice between sessions.

We start with an initial evaluation to understand your history together and what each of you wants from counseling. Sessions then typically run 45 or 55 minutes. Some couples come weekly during a rough patch; families often alternate between joint and individual sessions. If distance or schedules make it hard to get everyone in one room, secure telehealth sessions work well for couples and families across Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Individual relationship counseling is also valuable on its own — many clients work one-on-one to understand their patterns, set boundaries, or decide what they want before involving a partner.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

My partner won’t come. Can I still do relationship counseling?

Yes. Individual relationship counseling is often where the biggest changes start — when one person shifts their patterns, the relationship dynamic shifts too. Partners sometimes join later once they see counseling isn’t about blame.

Do you see families, or just couples?

Both. We work with couples, adult children and their parents, and whole families. Our counselors support adults of all ages, from college students to seniors.

Is couples counseling covered the same as individual therapy?

Our session rates are the same: $175 for the initial evaluation, then $145/$125/$100 for 55/45/30-minute sessions, in person or by telehealth. Call us at 814-933-4622 with payment questions.

Can we do couples sessions online?

Yes — secure telehealth works well for couples, especially with busy schedules or when partners are in different locations. We serve clients anywhere in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
